Project Overview

Ride Smart Florida is a statewide public safety initiative supported by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and managed through the Center for Urban Transportation Research (CUTR). The program focuses on educating motorists, cyclists, pedestrians, and motorcyclists on safe transportation practices through digital outreach and community engagement.

In my role supporting Ride Smart Florida, I contributed to the management and growth of the brand’s digital presence across social media platforms, helping communicate critical safety messaging to a broad, statewide audience. I worked closely with FDOT stakeholders to create visually engaging, accessible content that aligned with public safety goals and established brand guidelines.

Goals

  • Support and grow Ride Smart Florida’s statewide digital presence across social platforms
  • Communicate public safety messages in a clear, engaging, and accessible way
  • Maintain strong brand consistency aligned with FDOT standards
  • Increase reach, visibility, and engagement through data-informed content strategies
  • Use analytics to refine content performance and improve audience engagement

Process & Collaboration

This role required ongoing collaboration with FDOT and internal CUTR stakeholders. My work blended creative execution with performance analysis to ensure content was both impactful and compliant with public sector standards. Key responsibilities included:

  • Creating and optimizing social media graphics, motion assets, and campaign visuals
  • Analyzing performance across Facebook and Instagram to track reach, engagement, and trends
  • Reporting on analytics and using insights to refine content strategy
  • Supporting integrated campaigns such as Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month
  • Ensuring all content followed FDOT branding, accessibility, and messaging guidelines
  • Coordinating content scheduling and maintaining consistency across platforms

Final Results

Through consistent content creation and data-driven optimization, Ride Smart Florida maintained a strong and engaged statewide audience of 30,000+ followers across platforms. Between October 2024 and July 2025, social media efforts contributed to over 2.5 million total views, increasing awareness and engagement around transportation safety initiatives.

This project highlights my ability to support large-scale public safety campaigns, collaborate with government stakeholders, analyze digital performance, and create accessible, brand-aligned visual content that reaches and educates a diverse audience.
